[those fangs kind of give him pause, though, because he knew they were there but does that mean Chris was already aware he knew? or is he just being that careless? how should he react to them? should he react to them at all?]
I'm using that on my own grandmother the next time she wants to walk around looking like something out of a B movie. ...Sorry for not being more upfront about it; I wanted to at least try to get you some rest before maybe scaring you.
[ leaning against the nearby bookcase and eyeing him, rather thoughtfully ]
You're welcome... I don't disagree, really, since the whole thing is more a matter of what kind of people we are than what kind of being we are, but that's an interesting opinion to have when it's another vampire who put you in this situation to begin with.
What, something like "they're so strong, so they're scary"? Everyone is stronger than me. I'm just a kid. How much stronger doesn't really matter when anything can take me on, so it's better to judge by the individual rather than be scared of everyone.
I was thinking less in terms of strength and more one bad apple spoiling the bunch, but... mmm, you know, if we're going to talk about that kind of thing this early we might as well be doing it over food.
[manages like three whole bites, not bothering with syrup OR condensed milk, or anything Chris hadn't added before plating them, then gets sidetracked just. watching Chris eerily, trying to place him.]
[ oh no, now you've done it. his expression goes kind of wistfully fond for a few moments as he pokes at his food ]
...Thanks. It's actually my adoptive father's last name, so I sort of get gooshy over it... ah, don't mind me.
[ pancake. in mouth. ...maybe he can get his dad to come visit by mentioning a kid existing in the vicinity. on the other hand his dad would be really aggressively his dad... dilemma. ]
[ ...fretting over something to do with his last name. filing that away to the same place he's been filing everything else away, including the familiarity of his features and those blank spells
ducking his head in a bashful sort of nod, and then lifting it again to eye Yael's plate ]

I wasn't ready!
[those fangs kind of give him pause, though, because he knew they were there but does that mean Chris was already aware he knew? or is he just being that careless? how should he react to them? should he react to them at all?]
Uhm.
Your fangs are out.
no subject
[ blinks and sort of tongues at them ]
Oh— no, that's how they normally are. Good catch, though.
no subject
Mmhm, I put it badly. My, grandma, what big teeth you have, and all that.

It doesn't matter what you are. ...But I guess that was thoughtful of you. Thanks.

-Oh. Right, you made food, didn't you?
[sets aside the pillow.]
no subject
Pancakes! I put them in the oven so they'd stay warm while I hassled you.
no subject
[wiggles out of the nook stiffly, but doesn't stretch or anything, just moves to stand at Chris's side.]
Well, I've been hassled.
no subject
[ ambling for the kitchen and setting about getting the pancakes back out. there's a breakfast bar; it's already been set up with plates.
and a can of condensed milk. ]

[settles in front of one of the plates, eyeing the condensed milk thoughtfully.]

giving Yael like three pancakes and taking four for himself before grabbing the condensed milk. there's syrup, too, but he's ignoring that. ]

Is that really good?
[nice cover kiddo]
no subject
If you like sugar. It was a family thing, I grew up eating it like this.
no subject
Oh. Speaking of family, I don't think I got your last name?
no subject
no subject
[it doesn't match up... maybe he's just overblowing the similarities.]
That's a nice name.

A very nice name, then.
[but if his name used to be different...
maybe Yael should just hope it isn't the case. but Chris is a vampire. maybe he simply won't remember?]
no subject
ducking his head in a bashful sort of nod, and then lifting it again to eye Yael's plate ]
...Not hungry?
no subject
Not hungry. It's good, though. Maybe we can save it for when I am hungry?
